Well I finished the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, and I have to say that it was truly a brilliant series. I have no true affinity for the christian religion (all thanks to it's people) but while it was a phenomenal book I definitely came away with some interesting things to ponder (of which I'm not going to share here since I never really cared to get into discussions and/or arguments about philosophy or religion.. you believe what you believe, and I believe what I believe.. end of story, best way to live)
But Lyra and Will. G'uh, I can't quite portray my love for those two without suitably spoiling everything. Yes, I liked the canonically gay angels (and mad props to Phillip Pullman for putting them in) but the third book made me realize that.. 'no, this is definitely -not- a children's book'. I was listening to this while I was working down the grocery aisle, and I just started to cry.. and everyone in grocery thought I was silly.
EXCELLENT BOOK. A++++++
