(I was expirementing with a new way of going about iconing anime screencaps.. I usually go with manga scans because they look more seemless with textures.. and I like to do a little bit something with icons other then the usual applying a gradient. I used a background with the same colour as Reishin's robe, then I copy and pasted the picture of Reishin and slowly made it so that the background showed through.. then I applied a gradient to overlay so as to give it a natural feel that would blend in with the base image.. thereby linking the two. For me it's all about achieving harmony between the base and the bacground.)
